Collaborative Educational Services

CES Online Newsletter

NOW, through the creation of the Middlesex Regional Educational Services Commission's Collaborative Educational Services (CES) program, districts can offer an educational program for special needs students within their neighborhood schools, rather than transporting them to private special education facilities.

Everybody wants to provide the best education for students, particularly those with special needs. Unfortunately, public schools haven't always had many choices available to them. That's why for years, schools have been transporting their students with severe disabilities to costly private special education schools that are sometimes more than 60 minutes from the child's home.

The tuition and transportation costs, along with the emotional wear and tear on students and parents utilizing private school services, are difficult obstacles to overcome.  Nevertheless, public schools have had little choice but to continue meeting special education student needs in this manner... until NOW.
